Volleyball history

Volleyball was created in 1895 by William G. Morgan. He was then director of Physical Education at the Ymca of Holihoke, in the state of Massachusetts, and had established, developed and directed a vast program of exercises and male sports classes for adults. Its main motivation was to create a game of entertainment and competition, different from the basketball created in 1891, seeking to avoid the rudeness and the shock of this new sport.
His idea arises with the tennis net, but higher (2.13 m.), And using the basketball court and a new type of ball, to be thrown over the mesh to the opposite field, preventing this "ball" will touch the ground. At that time there were no restrictions on the number of players or contact with the ball. The initial name was that of MINTONNETTE, renamed Volleyball because it was played only by volley or whipped fingers. This proposal was made by Professor Halstead.
